Louie, Love, and a Little Faith

““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Okay, if any of you who read this (if anyone does), and you've never heard of Mr. Louie Giglio...go off into the dessert for 40 days and then come back. He is a pretty awesome preacher who does the whole Passion tour for college students, and works with Chris Tomlin and previously David Crowder before they decided to stop. Last night I watched one of my favorite sermons by him titled 'How Great is Our God' but better known as 'If the Earth was a Golf Ball' and it was probably the billionth time, but it hit me just as hard as the first time.

I'm not gonna tell you all about the video, because I want you to go out and find it somewhere, but I will tell you that it is about an AWESOME God who breathes stars and creates galaxies without lifting a finger, and yet still is delicate and loving enough to create us with meticulousness and beauty. WE ARE IMPORTANT AND BEAUTIFUL!!!

The video also talks about God's promise in the hard times. No He does not say "Hey, I gotcha bro" and take us to sunny, flower-filled fields, but He does say true to his promise, which is stated in the above verse (but I'll bring it down here just for you)““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 WE HAVE TO TRUST HIM! We have to give into the fact that we are not in control and that HE IS! That is one of the hardest parts because we want to say that we have it, that we are okay, that we don't need help...but WE DO! And the best thing is that He is ready to grab us and put us on wings of eagles as soon as we let him.

So there you guys go: we learned three things today. 1) Louie Giglio is a must-know from now on 2) God loves us enough to make us more complex and beautiful than the millions of galaxies above us 3) All we need is a little faith in God's plan and we will have a mysterious peace overcome us because His promise never fails.

Peace out homies and God bless!

Facebook Fast for the Weak

Alright, so I am now on my second week of my facebook fast. Everyday I find myself listening to a song or hearing something stupid and thinking "Facebook status!" only to remember that there will be no updating facebook. Then it hit me: what about those people who are so excited about Jesus and they cannot share him? I get bummed out when I can't go on Facebook, and yet I can share Jesus any moment of the day...and I don't need Facebook to do it. I tended to use Facebook as my medium to share the Gospel, and that was my justification for being on Facebook everyday: it's just another way to tell people about the Lord. I had the typical "Christian" song lyric status or the once a week Bible verse, and I felt as though that was good enough. I got the Word out, now it was people's choice whether or not to read it or "like" it.

Is that "good enough?" There are people in other countries dying because of their love for Jesus and their inability to hold it in, and here I am squeezing something Christian out every once in a while. Now, don't get me wrong; I love the Lord Jesus with all my heart, but I tended to share my heart with Facebook at the same time. I believe that we have to put on our "Christian face" at all times because it should be our only face. It shouldn't have to be en effort show people the love in my heart, nor should I base things off how many people commented.

My friend said that almost every Christian girl has done a "Facebook fast" and that it's kinda weird. Now let me say this: it was not planned. One day I came home from school tired of drama and school stuff and suddenly feeling this desire to grow in my relationship with God, so I said my farewells and told everyone I would see them in a month. BAM Cold Turkey, just like that. I changed my home page to a devo site...and yet everyday I change the page to google as soon as it loads. I haven't looked twice at that page since I put it up. It's time to get down and dirty. I'm tired of saying I'm gonna grow in the Lord and then forget about it as soon as the internet loads. This is my promise and my challenge to you: realize that something is taking the place of/or sharing your heart with Christ, take a break, and then pray about it so that your heart with fill that emptiness with Christ.

Good Luck!

In A Sick World, We are the Doctors.

The Earth is sick. No I'm not talking about Global Warming, nor am I talking about epidemics like AIDS. I'm talking about how everyone in the world has this little infection called SIN that can ruin our lives. Everyone has it, and there is only one Cure, and even with the Cure, you are still prone to getting it.

There are many forms this sickness comes in. No version is worse than the another; every one of them is deadly. Why, in a world covered in sin, do we just accept it? One quick visit to a highschool and one can see all 10 commandments broken at least once. All over the TV we see celebrities getting drunk and making fools of themselves, while on the next channel are two people having causal intercourse. Everyday we are subjected to sinning and how it's "okay" because everyone does it. Well here's a newsflash for you: IT'S NOT OKAY!

Jesus said that "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick" (Mark 2:17). He knew that sin was not just something that happened, but a disease. And when He said "the heathly" He knew that there aren't any "healthy" people. We have all sinned. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). We all need Jesus, and it is the job of those who know Him to tell everyone else. It is our job to tell everyone else that sinning is not okay. It is our job to tell them that they are sick. It is our job to show them the Cure.

Go out and heal the sick!

Are You a Christian?

Nowadays what does it mean to be a Christian in America? Go to church, sing some songs, maybe get down and pray a few times or wipe the dust off the Bible, right? In today's society, as long as you are a 'good' person, you get off the hook. People who do a little more than the usual are either shunned or ignored because they are outside the norm; they swim against the flow. Christians have been put into a box...or have we put ourselves in the box?

David Platt, author of "Radical," says that most Christians here today have changed true Christianity in to their own little world. We have adapted services so that we can sleep in, added coffee shops so we don't fall asleep during the sermon (even though we got to sleep in to begin with), and added comfy chairs to make it even harder to stay awake. WE HAVE ADAPTED...and by adapting, we have altered the focus of our lives. Platt says that TRUE Christians need to give EVERYTHING.

ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THE RADICAL REVOLUTION? Let's change the world for Christ!
